iSession '09: Covered In the Dust

At last! My first iSession post. In the midst of looking for sounds for a different song, I came across some that I really liked, but didn't necessarily want to use for that song. So, I tried them with Covered, a song that I had written a few years ago, and absolutely loved it! My wife misses one of the sounds of the original version, so I'm currently trying to incorporate it into the new one. I plan to have rough instrumentals of both the original and the new sometime this afternoon. I just couldn't wait till then to post, hence you have this little ditty. I'm merely whetting your appetite for more. Stay tuned!

A Time of Immersion

Seasons change. Wisdom grows. Philosophies evolve. Passions intensify. God remains the same. Music reflects it all.

Our music and our ministry will be taking a bath next month. God has orchestrated events that will allow us to immerse ourselves in Him and our music. So, in February, I will work at the radio station in the mornings, return in the late afternoons for an hour or two, and have several hours a day in which to spend with Messiah and music. We expect great things to come from this time of immersion.

My earthly goals:
  • gain a clearer understanding about our ministry
  • finish recording existing songs
  • write, record, and produce new songs
  • set a CD release date
  • connect with God and Bridget in new and fresh ways

Those are just a few of my earthly goals that I can come up with right away. I'm sure God has his own idea for this intensive time together.

God's goals?:

  • reveal himself in greater ways
  • grant wisdom and understanding concerning our ministry
  • draw us closer to him

I'm not going to pretend to speak or think for God, but those are a few things I can feasibly see him doing. I'm sure he's got grand plans for this season, and I can't wait.

So, we'll call this the Pre Immersing Period. I shall attempt to keep you updated as the Immersing continues throughout the month, and then I will hopefully have a lot to tell after this time of immersion. Also, we'll hopefully have a lot of great music to show for it. Be encouraged.

Praise the King

While this song will not be on the official CD (due out in '09), it will be included in an information packet that we will send out to churches and organizations regarding our services. If you or your church would like to bring us in for a Kingdom Crossing, please comment or shoot us an email. Have your people call my people, and we'll do lunch.

Our April Sound friends should remember this song. (hopefully with fond memories)

Jeremiah 17 Sample #1

Here's a sample of one of the verses and the chorus for Jeremiah 17 - this is just guitar and vocal
Enjoy!

Quick Update

Yet another new look adorns the Batcave. This one will probably stick for a long while. (we'll see) To the left, you will find a section called "Sounds From the Batcave". It is actually my YouTube channel feed. I plan to upload samples to it, so you can then have easy access to the sounds coming from the Batcave. Currently, the only song on there is reThink's and my song, "Redeem the Day".

Bridge has laid down vocals for Jeremiah 17. We'll hopefully lay down some others this weekend as Christmas is too quickly approaching. I hope to have a sample of that song within a couple of days. Check out Babione6 for all the latest family blogginess.

BTW,
the movie quote was from Ace Ventura, Pet Detective

3 Columns and New Quick Sounds

I've been tirelessly working on the look of the blog, and I finally learned how to edit the html to create 3 columns. I've also added new Quick Sounds. The music is coming along. I hope to start posting samples soon, so you can have an idea of what it all sounds like.

"If I'm not back in 5 minutes, just wait longer!" (Bonus points for the first one to tell me from what movie that comes!)

Update & Working On the Look

  • have 4 of the 5 songs' guitar track laid down
  • gonna lay down some vocals on Saturday (today, I guess)
  • been working on the new look - lost some stuff (some on accident, some on purpose)
  • thanks to those that have kept asking about the CD

Change Is Coming...

In many ways, and not the least of which is in this blog. In the next couple of days, my goal is to make Sounds From the Batcave more about the music and other productions that are to come out of the Batcave (hence, Sounds From the Batcave - pretty clever huh?) and to post more about family and fun on my wife's blog, Babione6. Plus, you might look for one more blog from us that would create a trifecta of Babione bloginess. And a cohesive look. My wife thrives on cohesiveness. So, look for great things to come, and if they don't, then settle for mediocre things.

A Christmas CD

I figure, that if I write this down for all to see, that it will help me to deliver the goods. For the past couple of Christmases, Bridge and I have tried to put a CD together of our music as gifts. Well, this year is no different, but the desire is stronger, the need to is greater, and the product is closer to being finished. Our goal is to deliver a 5 song CD "demo" by the first of the year. We're trying to get it done by Christmas, but the extra week may prove beneficial.

The 5 songs to be included (for now) are:
Covered In the Dust
Forever Is Your Reign
Intimate
Jeremiah 17
And He Shall Be Called

These are always subject to change, but we're pretty confident that these will be the ones on there. So, you, the readers and followers of Sounds From the Batcave, are hereby sworn in as witnesses to this endeavor, and are encouraged, nay, expected to hold us accountable. I would like for you to continually check up on us, and ask us how the CD is coming along.

If you would like to receive a CD as gift this year, or an MP3 download (I think I can do that), then please feel free to sign up. If you would like a CD, then I will ask that you help us out and pay a shipping fee, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Until then, check here for updates on the status of the project, for some musical excerpts, and to keep us accountable to finish the project by the deadline. Hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving and thanks for your support.
